The Road to Equity Is Paved Mile by Mile
Join us as the founder of 10kaf.org takes to the streets of New York City in the TD Five Boro Bike Tour — 40 miles for one mission: expanding access, equity, and opportunity in real estate appraisal for minority professionals.
The 10K Minority Appraisers Foundation exists to dismantle systemic barriers in the appraisal industry. Through education, mentorship, and advocacy, we are building a new generation of minority appraisers who bring fairness to every home valuation. Every dollar you give fuels that freedom ride.
Ride to Liberate the Appraisal Profession
With more than 38 years in real estate and property valuation, Thaddaus Dawson began his journey at 19 — earning his real estate license in 1985 and becoming one of the first Black commercial appraisers in Cincinnati. While working for the City’s Real Estate Division, he uncovered a systemic truth: Black homeowners were consistently undervalued — not because of their property, but because of their identity.
That discovery became the driving force behind 10K Minority Appraisers Foundation — a nonprofit dedicated to workforce development, appraisal education, and paid internship pipelines. Dawson also developed the first-ever appraisal apprenticeship program certified by the U.S. Department of Labor, ensuring trainees are paid while they learn.
Every contribution directly funds programs that create pathways to professional excellence and economic equity in real estate appraisal.
